I got up this morning, took a shower, took the dog out and went to vote. I arrived at my polling place around 7:10 am and it was pretty crowded. Right off the top a poll worker pointed me to the wrong line. While waiting in the correct line I kept hearing the old woman working the table in front of me complaining non-stop. It was humorous. I don't think she could hear very well because she was incorrectly repeating every ones information. She kept on yelling "The phone that the voting commission gave us does not work - try to get them on the phone", "I can't get this damn phone to work". At this point I noticed that every volunteer was over the age of 65-70ish. Apparently each polling place was given cell phones (I think) to use and this new technology was not working for them. Could someone please get this woman a rotary? In other polling drama: Poll worker in the south end charged with assaulting voter.

I had a similar experience.
So I think you and everyone else we know should be a poll worker for the next election. That way we can lower the average age of poll workers.
I worked the 2004 Presidential election and had tons of fun. You have to go to a 3-hour training. You work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and they pay you $130 bucks.
It's the least we can do.
