I mentioned this before in a previous post, but after seeing The Life Aquatic I headed straight into Barnes and Noble and purchased the soundtrack to the movie. I was blown away (like always) by Mark Mothersbaughs composing, and more importantly I instantly became attracted to Seu Jorge's David Bowie covers. I really like the way he carries himself musically. He is a great guitarist, is laid back, smokes while he plays and has a unique beautiful-graspy voice. If anyone has the set-up to where they can record audio off a DVD let me know because I would really like to have all of Bowie covers that are on the DVD.
"Seu Jorge is a Brazilian musician and actor. He appeared in the critically acclaimed movie City of God (if you have not seen this movie go rent it immediately, and then played Pele Dos Santos in Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, for which he provided much of the soundtrack in the form of Portuguese covers of David Bowie classics." [Wikipedia]
"Seu Jorge has released two albums. In 2001 he released Samba Esporte Fino, a classic brazilian pop album very influenced by the likes of Gilberto Gil and Milton Nascimento. His album Samba Esporte Fino was declared the Album of the Year in Brazil. It was released outside Brazil under the name: Carolina in 2002. In 2005 Seu Jorge, released his second album Cru which was celebrated and critically acclaimed in Brazil and Seu Jorge was celebrated as the new superstar and renewer of Brazilian Samba-style pop" [Wikipedia]
